The caption which accompanied the top pictures in the centre-page feature in last month's Multimedia was incorrect.The pictures showed magnetoencephalogram (MEG) measurements of brain activity. This activity was seen oscillating, in the very short time of 12 milliseconds, between regions of the cortex devoted to sensory and motor responses while the subject was "making up their mind" to move a finger.
