Thames Valley University has installed an Australian video distribution system which staff first saw in action at Hong Kong Polytechnic. All tapes, laser discs and other media are mounted in a central control room. The theory is that the capital savings, achieved by having a special remote control and cordless phone instead of a video player in each room, outweigh the labour cost of employing an operator in the control room.
