Wise move on pollution

March 10, 1995

Profit without pollution is the goal of Earthwise, a new environmental education package from Sheffield-based Sanderson CBT.

The simulation package, which runs on IBM-compatible PCs, puts students in the shoes of managers in a company manufacturing an imaginary product called "prolene".

Decisions taken by the student affect the fortunes of the company as measured by four key performance indicators: profit, market share, environmental benefit and public perception.

The package encompasses a wide range of issues including raw materials, end of life disposal and recycling, health and safety, waste and energy. It also includes tutorial material in the form of principles which can be applied in a wide range of contexts.

Keith Shaw, managing director of Sanderson CBT said: "The package is designed to be used equally successfully on an individual or group basis."
