The Casper-Plus trial: collaborative care for screen-positive elders with major depressive disorder

The study concerns older people with severe depression who might benefit from a mixture of antidepressants and psychological therapy. The team will judge whether collaborative care improves people's mental health, using an internationally recognised diagnosis of the condition to establish what proportion of patients are positively affected by the treatment. Participants will be given either collaborative care or their usual treatment according to chance. Nobody will be denied care by taking part in the trial.
