As the Association of University Teachers holds out for Independence Day for all lecturers in higher education, rival Natfhe members want the force to stay with them. But in boldly going for a greater divide between higher and further education officers, Natfhe has hit a hitch. One favoured name for the new higher education postholder is University Field Officer, or UFO. Naturally, head office expects him or her to phone home regularly.
