The Landscape Institute. The Southeast Regional Research Laboratory in Birkbeck College, University of London's geography department, received two awards for the National Landscape Character Map of England, which also took the President's Award for 1997.
John Logie Baird Award
The award for innovation was presented to a team of scientists in the University of Aberdeen's department of engineering. Albert Rodger, received the award on behalf of his team in October.
Surrey and Sussex Post Qualifying Consortium
The PQA Award in social work has been awarded to Spencer Phelan and Michelle Lefevre and the Advanced Award in Social Work presented to Jane Lindsay, all formerly enrolled at Chichester Institute of Higher Education.
