Young Enterprise Scotland

The Gold Award for an outstanding contribution to development of young people's personal skills, knowledge and understanding of business was presented to Chris Masters and Roddy Livingston, members of the University of Strathclyde's Business School.

Royal Academy of Engineering

The Prince Philip Medal has been presented to John Argyris, a member of Imperial College (1949-75) and a fellow of the college since 1985.

Institution of Electrical Engineers

The IEE Premium Prize has been awarded for an article on "Hearing aids - a development with digital signal processing devices" jointly written for the Computing and Control Engineering journal by the following people at the University of Ulster: Gerry McAllister, faculty of informatics, Norman Black, faculty of engineering and Niall Waterman, electrical engineering.
