The Chinese government has set up two funds to help rebuild flood-damaged universities, colleges and schools and aid the 8.5 million students affected by floods, which hit the country this summer. Students will receive subsidised fares when joining institutions in neighbouring cities or provinces and will also be subsidised or exempt from tuition and accommodation charges. The floods damaged 44,853 institutions at a cost of billions of yuan.
