Brussels, 13 Apr 2005
A conference on interdisciplinary and cross-border research on biology and society will take place on 19 April in Umeå, Sweden.
The event will bring together natural scientists, humanists and theologians with the aim of stimulating and developing collaborations between researchers in different scientific fields and thus generating interdisciplinary projects.
The event is being organised by Synpraxia, an interdisciplinary research network based at Umeå University. All Synpraxia projects involve researchers from at least two scientific areas.
Presentations will address issues such as:
- the public's view of biobanks;
- ethics, gene technology and extension of life;
- genetically modified organisms;
- new diseases;
- neuroscience;
- the distinction between bioscience and biotechnology.
