Birkbeck turns physics faculty into gold

BIRKBECK College is to transfer its entire physics department to University College as part of measures designed to tackle a projected Pounds 2.7 million deficit. The transfer, which will take place over the summer, is expected to involve the loss of three academic and five technician posts. Most will go through voluntary means though Birkbeck says it cannot rule out compulsory redundancies.
