The International Astronomical Union has named an asteroid after the rector of Bologna University, Fabio Roversi Monaco. The IAU is the recognised authority for assigning names to celestial bodies. Asteroid 8809 will be known as "Roversimonaco", in recognition of the Bologna rector's support of astronomical research.
