Glasgow University student Jack Savage will hopefully be stirred but not shaken by his experiences on a new travelling scholarship commemorating an adventurer said to be the model for James Bond.
Sir Fitzroy Maclean was a diplomat, soldier, politician and historian whose career in the Balkans is supposed to have inspired the creation of Ian Fleming's super spy.
The annual £2,500 scholarships aim to fund travel "in keeping with Fitzroy Maclean's spirit of adventure". Mr Savage will travel to Chile to retrace the steps of singer and writer Violeta Parra.
