Antithesis would be the last to make fun of the International Electronics Reliability Institute's forthcoming seminar at the University of Loughborough merely on the grounds that the main speaker, Pat O'Connor, is reliability manager of British Rail. Instead, we would advise him to buttonhole fellow speaker John Andrews, of Loughborough's mathematics department, an expert on "fault tree analysis", to ask him just what to do about those dreaded leaves.
