Brussels, 11 July 2002
Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin will give a keynote presentation at a high-level conference in Brussels on 2 October 2002 to discuss priorities for construction research.
The event, organised by the European council for construction research, development and innovation (ECCREDI) and the EU-funded European construction research network (E-CORE), aims to raise the profile of research and innovation in the construction sector. It will look in particular at the forthcoming Sixth Framework programme for research (FP6) and the creation of the European research area (ERA).
The event hopes to initiate dialogue between senior business executives and MEPs and Commission representatives. It will include presentations from key players in the construction industry, the Commission and the European Parliament. The presentations will be followed by a round table discussion, during which Commissioner Busquin will give his presentation.
Topics under discussion will focus on FP6 priority thematic areas of particular interest to the construction sector, including production processes and materials, IST (information society technologies) and e-commerce, and sustainable and urban issues.
