Cambridge Display Technology, a firm spun off from Cambridge University's Cavendish Laboratory, has won the UK's biggest engineering prize.
The £50,000 Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Award will be presented to Richard Friend, Cavendish professor of physics, and four colleagues, at Buckingham Palace on October 30.
Cambridge Display Technology was created to exploit light-emitting polymers, which could pave the way to true flat-screen televisions.
