Cancer Research UK funded a record £315 million worth of research last year. The milestone figure marks nearly a doubling in research funding since the charity was formed five years ago - and is up £64 million on the previous year - according to its annual report and accounts. The charity said that it aims to increase its research expenditure to £400 million by 2010.
