The Privy Council has given degree-awarding powers to Chichester Institute of Higher Education. The institute now intends to apply to be renamed University College Chichester.
Meanwhile, Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh today announced a change of title, to Queen Margaret University College. Principal Joan Stringer welcomed the change, which, she said, allowed the college to reflect more accurately its role as a university-sector institution.
