China struggling with student loan system

Many Chinese universities are owed tens of thousands of pounds in tuition fees by their students, the Chinese education ministry has said. A spokesman said the average tuition fee was between 4,000 and 4,500 yuan ( £260 to Pounds 292). Poor students get government loans that must be repaid on graduation. A ministry official said some students pretended they were unable to repay the debt.
