Class angle on attrition

Researchers at Staffordshire University have secured £83,000 to discover why working-class students fail to enter further education and are more likely to drop out if they do. The Institute of Access Studies will interview ex-students, local people, employers and university staff as part of the two-year study funded by the Ladders out of Poverty programme established by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
