Commission calls for study on research collaboration patterns

May 30, 2002

Brussels, 29 May 2002

The European Commission has given a prior information notice of a study contract on patterns of research collaboration.

The contract relates to patterns of research collaboration (between industry and university and between large firms and small and medium sized enterprises), knowledge diffusion, and technology transfer. Research and innovation financing are evolving differently depending on the technology field or industrial sector. Understanding these differences is important for improving the efficacy and effectiveness of public policies to encourage research and technological innovation.

The purpose of the study is to identify and analyse these patterns in several technological areas and draw policy implications.'
