Brussels, 19 Nov 2004
The European Commission has launched an open consultation on the social sciences and humanities in the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
The consultation focuses on two key objectives in the communication 'Science and Technology, the key to Europe's future - Guidelines for future European Union policy to support research':
- creating European centres of excellence through collaboration between laboratories;
- developing research infrastructures of European interest.
A strong response will be seen by EU decision makers as evidence of significant interest in ensuring an important role for social sciences and humanities in future European research policy and FP7, believes the Commission.
