Contracts for universities to provide three-year nursing, midwifery or other medically-related courses should be awarded for at least five years, says an agreement concluded between the National Health Service and the Committee of Vice Chancellors and Principals. The declaration of principles also calls for the NHS to offer institutions an indemnity of at least 50 per cent against staff redundancy costs.
