Parents are being encouraged to send hampers to their offspring at university. The web-based company studenthampers.com will dispatch a parcel containing "easy-to-prepare hot meals, treats and snacks" to "offer comfort at any time, for special occasions such as exams or birthdays, and after broken romances", at prices from £25.
The contents include curries, soups and biscuits - but omit anything alcoholic with which to wash it down. The Diary suggests visiting an online supermarket, which could surely supply a wider range of produce.
