Librarians at St Andrews University have come up with a hot scheme. Students donating their old textbooks to the library are presented with a voucher which can be put towards the cost of a meal at the local Indian restaurant. Scholars in search of missing colleagues have since become accustomed to the standard response: "They're either in the library or vindaloo."
