The Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals has launched a study into the incidence of suicide and self-harm by students as part of an attempt to help universities care for students with mental-health problems.
Led by Gill Kester at University College Chichester, the project will establish the country's first database on the common factors that can lead to suicide. Universities and colleges can also refer to the CVCP's mental health guidelines.
