Swansea Institute of Higher Education has scrapped a degree in surf and beach management, it was revealed this week. The course had effectively been branded "Mickey Mouse" this year at a teachers'
conference. David Warner, the institute's principal, said it had then been impossible to stop people poking fun at the course. He added: "This is extremely sad. This is an example of a very good vocational course within a dynamic industry that will not be run simply because of bigots."
