An early retirement package is being offered this week to 54 teaching staff at the University of Westminster, writes Stuart Livingstone. The move comes a month after the university senior management announced a 6 per cent cut in the staffing budget. A spokesman for the university said that although there are no plans for compulsory redundancies, that option could not be ruled out if the retirement package proved unpopular. Natfhe has warned of industrial action should this happen.
