As Barack Obama prepares to take office as the first black US president, civil rights campaigner Reverend Jesse Jackson is to give a lecture at Edge Hill University on the relationship between race and economic justice next month. Stuart Speeden, head of the Centre for Local Policy Studies at Edge Hill, said: "The US election and the current world economic crisis make human rights a matter of immediate importance."
