Unions revealed this week that their legal bills are soaring as members and employers resort to the courts to resolve employment disputes. The AUT has reported a 70 per cent increase in its legal budget for last year.
Mr Triesman warned of a growing trend to expensive litigation at a conference in London on Tuesday. The conference, looking at the restructuring of HE, was organised by Southampton University.
