The Energy globe awards 2003, which recognise achievements in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, are welcoming submissions prior to the 9 October deadline.
Dubbed the 'energy Oscars', the Energy globe awards received more than 1,300 entries from 98 countries for the 2002 competition. Prize money of 10,000 euro per category is available to the winners. The organisers, O.Oe. Energiesparverband of Austria, are looking for entries from companies, public and private organisations and individuals. The categories are housing; companies; transport; municipalities; and public institutions.
The award ceremony will be televised. Over 1,600 guests attended the 2002 ceremony which saw former USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev hand over the prizes at the event which was televised in 130 countries. Prizes will also be presented at the 'World sustainable energy day' which will be held on 6 and 7 March 2003 in Wels, Austria.
