Conference Pre-announcement C-ECOM Plenary Conference
The purpose of the conference is to report on the success of the Cluster for Electronic Commerce (C-ECOM) project and to share the knowledge and experiences of the participating IST projects.
C-ECOM is a cluster project that has as its mission to enhance co-operation among R&D projects with similar electronic commerce standards related objectives. This is ensured by offering to those projects the CEN/ISSS open environment as a platform for cross-fertilisation.
The two main focuses of the conference will be on the benefits to those IST projects that have participated so far, as well as the policy implications of the C-ECOM project’s success.
The C-ECOM Project allows market players active in IST projects relevant to electronic commerce to benefit from a direct comparison with other similar projects where electronic commerce issues and the need of potential standards are discussed. This enables market players to implement a fast track for standardisation, and even to start the process before the R&D projects have reached completion.
The conference will provide the opportunity for participants from all sectors of the industry to advance their understanding and to influence the future of the Information Society. Those communities most likely to directly benefit from attending the conference include:
IST Project Participants – experiences of IST projects currently involved in C-ECOM
EU officials – implications for industrial policy and Information Society
Representatives of standards bodies – advantages of wider and earlier participation in the standardization process.
The conference agenda and registration instructions will be added shortly
