A group set up to guide the Higher Education Funding Council for England on widening participation wants a "substantial increase" above the Pounds 2 million set aside to tackle access issues next year. And members of the group, Equal Opportunities, Access and Lifelong Learning, say money must come from elsewhere in the sector's budget if necessary.
