Scientists are sceptical about claims that a woman treated by Severino Antinori, the Italian reproductive health scientist, is carrying a cloned child.
Wilfried Feichtinger, president of the International Association of Private Assisted Reproductive Technology Clinics and Laboratories that expelled Professor Antinori last September, said the news would be accepted by the scientific community only if the work was published in a reputable journal.
