Findings from the Higher Education Statistics Agency for 1996-97 reveal that:

The average age of full-time academic staff is 41

Twenty-two per cent of staff are 35 or younger. Two professors are 30 or younger

Thirteen per cent are 55 or over. There are 71 professors, and 176 staff in all, who are 66 or over.
