Charles Clarke, the Education Secretary, has announced plans to introduce a streamlined "light-touch" inspection system for further education next year. He told the Learning and Skills Development Agency conference this week that he wanted a single national strategic body to drive quality improvements in the sector and to consolidate quality assurance activity.
