Fellows are expected to establish their own group and work independently of other laboratories in the host institution, and should usually have the status of junior group leader or equivalent. You should consider whether the proposed host institution offers the best location for your research. Applicants are encouraged to move to new institutions to become independent Principal Investigators. Fellowships are designed to support fundamental cancer research. The research projects may include some clinical studies, but these should be a relevant and justified aspect of the basic research proposed. Research projects that are mostly clinical will not be accepted.
