Aspiring festival administrators and managers will now be able to train in Edinburgh, Europe's festival capital, through a degree at Napier University.
On Monday, Napier will launch what it believes to be the UK's first degree in leisure and festival management. Leisure management courses have traditionally focused on sport and recreation, but the BA will centre on the entertainment and cultural industries, events and festivals.
Programme leader Jane Ali-Knight said: "Napier has been delivering tourism and hospitality education for more than 30 years and saw a gap in the marketplace for a course that deals with the cultural and festival side of the leisure industry."
