Staff at Ulster University showed remarkable restraint this week as more than 200 of the world's leading fire safety experts arrived in Belfast for the first international symposium on human behaviour in fire, organised by the university's fire safety engineering research and technology centre. Several fingers were itching to press the fire alarm, to check the link between theory and practice.
