About three-quarters of employers surveyed by the Confederation of British Industry oppose a compulsory training levy. The CBI said the firms object for various reasons: the levy would be too bureaucratic, encourage training for training's sake, and exclude small firms who need training most. Employers said there was no evidence that training schemes work.
