Warwick University officials were forced to swiftly tackle claims this week that they had banned football fans from flying the England flag in halls of residence. Students dubbed hall wardens unpatriotic after claiming that they were disallowed from flag flying because it was deemed racist.
A university spokesman said there had never been a ban. "As far as we are concerned, students can fly whatever national flags they like," he said.
