An architecture student at Florence University is preparing his degree thesis on the theory and practice of building sandcastles. Leonardo Ugolini is well known in the esoteric international community of "sand sculptors", which meets regularly at beaches around the world, and is rated a "master sculptor". His thesis will deal with the complex structural forces involved in sand constructions and with building techniques.
