St Mary's University College, Strawberry Hill

Honorary fellowships have been conferred on:

Lionel Blue, rabbi and regular broadcaster and contributor to BBC Radio 4 programmes; Pete Postlethwaite, actor and former student of St Mary's; Elizabeth Jennings, writer and poet.

British Computer Society

Robert Galliers, chairman of the University of Warwick business school was elected to a fellowship.

American Physical Society

Kenneth Bell, professor of theoretical physics at Queen's University Belfast, has been elected to a fellowship on the recommendation of the Forum on International Physics.

Royal College of Pathologists

The Royal College has conferred the title of honorary fellow on Philip Cohen, Royal Society research professor and director of the Medical Research Council's protein phosphorylation unit at the University of Dundee. In 1997 he was also awarded the Louis Jeantet Prize for Medicine.
