John Williams (above) has applied for early retirement as principal of North East Wales Institute. The institute faces an investigation into allegations of mismanagement, but Professor Williams says his retirement is unrelated. "I was diagnosed in summer with a serious blood disorder, and I am not able to do the job to the high standards I would hope," he said. "I'll be here to fight the allegations."
