Freemasons are ploughing Pounds 150,000 over the next three years into research into ageing - much of which will be undertaken in universities. The donation from the Freemasons' Grand Charity to the medical research charity Research into Ageing includes a Pounds 58,000 grant to Anne McArdle, a researcher at Liverpool University, who will look at why muscles waste as we age. She is also investigating possible treatments to maintain muscle strength.
