Researchers at Cambridge University are to benefit from a Hitachi supercomputer that will be one of the most powerful computers in the United Kingdom. With a peak performance of 29 Gflops and memory in excess of 24 GBytes, the computer will be used for research in areas such as astrophysics, biochemistry, modelling combustion and seismology.
