(Photograph) - Pippa Dickens tested her artistic response to the bleak and alien surroundings of Iceland thanks to a travel scholarship from the Edna Lumb Artistic Trust. Ms Lumb, a scholarship student at Leeds College of Art in the 1950s, became known as one of the finest painters of Britain's industrial heritage. In her will she provided for an annual travel prize for art students at Leeds Metropolitan University (which incorporated the college), and all of her unsold work was put into an artistic trust to perpetuate the award. The works of past winners are on show at the Dean Clough Galleries in Halifax until June 28. Photograph: JUSTIN SLEE/GUZELIAN
