The claims made by Natasha Loder ("Low grades open the path to science degree", THES, September 4) contrast with the reality of recruitment at Nottingham Trent. We do not offer a place on any degree course to A-level applicants with fewer than 12 points. Even through clearing they must meet this requirement. Both students offered places on the physics course through clearing were interviewed by the admissions tutor and visited the university beforehand.
