Invitation to Submit Expression of Interest
International Scientific Cooperation Policy
From 11 to 13 November 2002 the European Commission will hold a conference to mark the launch of the EU's Sixth Framework Programme for Research, which will cover the period from 2002 to 2006.
To facilitate attendance of participants at the conference from European Central Eastern Candidate Countries, Directorate-General for Research might support a certain number of candidates who have expressed their interest in participating.
Grants cover travel costs only (subsistence and hotel charges can not be covered).
The applicants should be nationals of one of the 10 European Central Eastern Candidate Countries:
Poland
Czech Republic
Estonia
Latvia
Lithuania
Hungary
Poland
Romania
Slovenia
Slovakia
The supported participants can be:
NCPs (National Contact Point)
European Liaison Officers
Those in charge of RTD programmes in recognised public bodies
And all those involved in the development of S&T co-operation with the Union
The selection criteria will be:
Nationality
Scientific skills
Employer and position
Personal involvement in the development of S&T co-operation with the EC in one of the following Community priority areas: Genomics and biotechnology for health
Information Society technologies
Nanotechnologies, intelligent materials and new production processes
Aeronautics and space
Food safety and health risks
Sustainable development (including energy systems)
Citizens and governance in an open European knowledge-based society
Interested candidates should fill in and submit the "application form" before 12 July 2002. Selection will take place at the end of July.
Selected applicants will then be contacted before mid-September to organise their travel.
How to apply
The expressions of interest must be submitted to the Commission not later than 12 July 2002 using the applicant form.
And it has to be sent
First : electronically.
Second: by fax or mail with the ORIGINAL duly signed to the address here below.
The result of the Commission's selection will be announced before mid-September 2002.
