Half-hoping for rain this weekend are the more convivial spirits at Dartington College of Arts, whose graduation ceremony is held tomorrow. Not out of any desire to do a happy occasion down, but with high hopes for the efficacy of the drumming and xylophone music from the village of Nandom in northern Ghana, which will accompany the arrival of the platform party. One of the three pieces to be performed, Vielu daa na Mandomme mi nyu, tells of the quality of the local beer, and of how rain falls and turns into beer.
