Japan gets patent fund

Waseda University in Tokyo has joined with Daiwa Securities to create Japan's first fund for patenting and marketing university research, writes John Greenlees in Japan. The Waseda-Daiwa Pilot Fund will pay royalties from patents and licences to researchers and the university. Daiwa is putting Pounds 1.3 million into the venture.
